West Bancorporation is the holding company for West Bank. I looked into this company because it is the bank which is partnered with SmartyPig which is a popular online savings account because of its high interest rates.

The bank reported losses which is no surprise considering most banks are right now. A look at the financials though shows that it may not be at bad as it looks. It reported a net loss of 23 million for the last quarter but if you look at its filing, it reported a 23 million goodwill impairment during this quarter. Goodwill is just a paper value which doesn't really exist so in reality they didn't lose money. They broke even.

Of course breaking even isn't as good as making money but it isn't as bad as losing money. And since they aren't really losing much money it won't be difficult for them to become profitable again once the economy has improved.

Does anyone have any opinions about the future of this stock?

Thanks for sharing the information on WTBA. Till date I didn't had such particular idea about WTBA. I cannot comment anything on the future of WTBA. I will talk to some market specialist and I hope they would have some notion. If I get some suitable reply, I will revert back. Thanks.

I have not heard about the WTBA bank corporation. I think that I will have to make survey for it then I will invest in it. I hope that They will really give the highly interest on it.

You left off GM and Chrysler and many of the banks you listed were forced to take money so as to keep a secret which ones were really in trouble and many of them have paid back the tarp money as well.

The question for you is: Are you equally upset over the amount given to Freddie and Fannie which allow them to continue to buy bad loans? You do know that each of their CEOs recieved bonuses right? You do not that Christmas Eve the Dems voted to increase the dept of each 40 billion more right? You do know that each has recieved 120 billion so far right?
